Guide to Facetime, How it Works and How to Use it Effectively

Facetime is a built-in iOS app that lets users make video and audio calls to one another over the internet. It’s quick, easy, and free — which makes it very popular!

How Does Facetime Work

Facetime works pretty simply — you just need to have an internet connection (either via Wi-Fi or cellular data) and the app open on your iOS device. You can then make calls to any other iOS user who also has the Facetime app open. The app will use your device’s front-facing camera to show you, and the person you’re talking to will see themselves on their screen thanks to the rear-facing camera.

You can also make audio-only calls using Facetime, which can be useful if you’re in a situation where video isn’t possible or you just prefer to talk without being on camera.

How to Use Facetime

Using Facetime is easy, but there are a few things you should know before making your first call:

1. Make sure you have a strong internet connection. As with any video call, the quality of your Facetime call will be directly related to the strength of your internet connection. If you’re on Wi-Fi, try to be near your router for the best possible connection. If you’re using cellular data, make sure you have a good signal.

2. Open the Facetime app and sign in with your Apple ID. You’ll need to do this so that other people can easily find and call you using your Facetime account.

3. Find the person you want to call in the Contacts app or by typing their name into the search bar at the top of the screen.

4. Tap on their name and then tap on the Facetime icon to start your call.

5. You can also make an audio-only call by tapping on the phone icon instead of the Facetime icon.

6. To end a call, just tap on the red End button.

7. If you want to use some of the other features in the app, like switching between cameras or muting your microphone, just tap on the menu icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

How to Check How Long a Facetime Call Was

You can check how long a Facetime call was by opening the Phone app and tapping on the Recents tab. All of your recent calls will be listed here, including both audio and video calls. Just tap on the info button next to the call you want to check and you’ll see how long it lasted.

You can also check your Facetime call history by opening the Facetime app and tapping on the History tab. This will show you a list of all your past Facetime calls, both answered and missed.
