Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2: Key details to know

Boxing’s heavyweight division will witness history at Wembley Stadium on July 19, 2025, as Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois clash for the undisputed heavyweight championship. This highly anticipated rematch promises to settle unfinished business from their controversial first encounter.

All four major belts – WBA, WBO, IBF and WBC – will be on the line, with the winner leaving the ring as the division’s sole ruler.

The Ukrainian enters the bout as the heavy favourite with Usyk vs Dubois odds, but heavyweight boxing has never been a sport that follows the script. One well-timed punch can flip the narrative in an instant – a reality that Dubois knows all too well. The Londoner arrives with a point to prove and a score to settle, having come up short in their controversial first encounter.

He may be the underdog, but with power in both hands and a renewed sense of purpose, Dubois is gunning for revenge and ready to seize his moment against the Cat on the biggest stage of all.

The road to redemption

Usyk previously defeated Dubois by a ninth-round knockout in Wroclaw, Poland, in August 2023, but the victory came under contentious circumstances. A punch from Dubois that appeared to drop Usyk was ruled a low blow by the referee, allowing the Ukrainian five minutes to recover before ultimately stopping the Londoner. This decision has fuelled debate ever since, with many believing Dubois was denied a legitimate knockdown.

Since that defeat, both fighters have taken divergent paths. Usyk went on to defeat Tyson Fury twice to become undisputed champion before vacating the IBF title, while Dubois was elevated to IBF champion and successfully defended his belt with an emphatic knockout of Anthony Joshua in September 2024.

Championship Stakes

This contest marks the first undisputed heavyweight championship fight on British soil, making it a historic occasion for UK boxing fans. Usyk, at 38, enters with a perfect 23-0 record and holds the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles.

The southpaw technician is seeking to become undisputed champion for the second time, having previously unified the cruiserweight division.

Dubois, 27, brings youth and devastating power to the equation. The Brit boasts a 95% knockout percentage compared to Usyk’s 61%, and his recent performances suggest he’s evolved into a more complete fighter since their first meeting. DDD is confident in his own abilities even when the boxing odds are against him on home soil.

“At the end of the day, it is a fight,” he said. “Any time we are in each other’s faces it could kick off. But I’m grateful for the opportunity and ready to fight.

“I definitely respect Usyk, but I get the opportunity to try and beat him as well. Oleksandr has had his time, but now it is my time, and I’m ready to go.”

Event Details and Undercard

The main event ring walks are expected to take place around 9:30 p.m. at Wembley, but that depends on how the other bouts go.

The supporting card features compelling matchups, headlined by Lawrence Okolie defending his WBC Silver heavyweight title against Kevin Lerena in a 12-round contest.

British and Commonwealth light heavyweight champion Lewis Edmondson will face undefeated Ukrainian Daniel Lapin for the IBF Intercontinental and WBA Continental titles.
