Every now and then, I’ll find myself looking for a good videogame to play with my girlfriend. We’ve enjoyed many games as such in the past such as “Just Dance” where we would just bust out and dance like nobody was watching (and, really, nobody was). Other times we’ll try to complete a particularly difficult challenge in games such as “Super Mario Galaxy” or “New Super Mario Bros. Wii”. However, what I’ve come to realize is that there are definitely some types of games that really require you to play together if you want any chance of completing it. This list is meant to highlight some Wii games that may be great to play with someone else, either by yourself or with a co-op partner.
I must admit that if I had to pick any two first-party Nintendo releases as the best choices for playing together, they’d definitely have to be “Mario Kart Wii” and “Super Smash Bros. Brawl”. Both games are easily accessible to anyone and both provide plenty of enjoyment in their own way.
Wii dual layer games
The “Mario Kart” series is a staple in Nintendo’s lineup and “Mario Kart Wii” offers up to twelve-players online for racing fun. The best part about the game, however, is the fact that four-player races are available on a single console! This makes it an easy choice for a great title to play with anyone.
“Super Smash Bros. Brawl”
Is an epic game that has made it into many people’s hearts since its release in 2008. The game has received endless praise for its addicting gameplay and unique characters, the latter of which you can play as with your significant other (or anyone else) thanks to the co-op feature built right into the game.
“Super Mario Galaxy”
Is another fun choice for gamers who are looking to play with someone else. The game also provides both single-player and co-op modes allowing you to take on the entire game with a friend or go at it alone without ever missing out on any of the great content. You can even opt to only play the easier missions with the less skilled controller if you so desire.
One of my favorite games to play with my significant other is “Donkey Kong Country Returns”. I’m not sure what it is about this game, but even though it can be challenging at times, we always have a blast playing through this co-op title. Perhaps it’s the fact that we get to play as sidekick Diddy Kong for some missions. Perhaps it’s because he can easily carry me through tougher portions of the game, or maybe it’s just the chance to beat up monkeys together.
“Mario Party 9”
Is another good example of a Wii dual layer games that provides both single-player and co-op modes allowing you to take on the entire game with a friend or go at it alone without ever missing out on any of the great content. You can even opt to only play the easier missions with the less skilled controller if you so desire, but then you might miss out on the chance to collect minigames for use in Party mode.
“The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword”
Now, let me just say that this game is absolutely worth it if you’re looking to play a deep and interesting adventure with your love ones. While not the easiest game ever created (a trait I appreciate in anything), it’s definitely an enjoyable challenge for all players involved.
Conclusion
After playing through numerous games with my significant other, I’ve realized that there are definitely some titles out there worth checking out if you’re looking for a fun option to play with someone else. What about you? Are there any Wii games that you and your love ones enjoy playing together or do you have any recommendations of your own?
